, the younger brother of host , has died. said on social media Monday that Scott Probst was no longer with the family, calling him a great brother, son and friend.

Brent Probst did not give a cause of death. But he made clear how much Scott meant to the family, writing that he would miss him and was deeply sad he was gone. For a family already marked by grief after the death of their mother, , in November 2024, the loss lands hard and immediately.

Scott Probst had worked behind the scenes on Survivor in the camera and art departments during Jeff Probst’s long run on the CBS series, which debuted in 2000. His credits also extended beyond television into video games, a reminder that his career reached into more than one corner of the industry. Survivor later dedicated an episode to Barb after her death, acknowledging the family’s loss on a show that has been part of the Probst name for decades.

The death comes months after Jeff Probst, 64, spoke publicly about how much the franchise has shaped his life. In February, he called Survivor “the greatest thing that's ever happened to me in my career and really a giant part of my life,” and said he still found himself measuring the work against the rest of his life, “just trying to figure out how to be a human, and a good person, or a good parent, or a good partner.”

He added that, even after two and a half decades with the show, he was still taking stock before each season began: “So I definitely had a couple of moments right before we started the show where I kept reminding myself: Man, you've been out here for two and a half decades doing this. So it's been cool. I'm super proud to be a part of Survivor.”

Jeff Probst married in 2011, and the family has already seen how closely its personal losses and public life can overlap. What happens next is not about the show’s schedule or the host’s on-air role. It is about a family that has now lost both its mother and, now, Scott Probst, the brother who helped build part of the world around Survivor from behind the camera.
