Scott Probst, the younger brother of longtime Survivor host Jeff Probst, has died. His death was announced Monday on Instagram by his brother Brent Probst, who wrote that “our brother Scott is no longer with us.”

Brent Probst said Scott was “a great brother, son and friend” and added, “I will miss him so much. I’m so sad he is gone.” The family did not immediately say where or when he died. Jeff Probst, who has hosted Survivor since May 2000, has not yet commented publicly.

Scott Probst had a long but largely behind-the-scenes link to the reality competition that made his brother famous. He was credited on 28 episodes of Survivor, including work as an art assistant from 2006 to 2008 and as a camera assistant from 2011 to 2012. He also had producer credits on a range of video games, according to IMDb.

The death comes 18 months after the family lost Barb Probst, Jeff’s mother and Scott’s mother, who died in November 2024. Survivor later paid tribute to her during a Season 47 episode with a card reading, “Dedicated to Barb, the biggest Survivor fan of all time. See you on our next adventure.”

The loss lands while the franchise is still very much in motion. Survivor Season 50 is preparing to air its final episodes ahead of the live finale on 20 May, and Jeff Probst is currently filming Season 51. For a family that has spent years tied to the show, Scott’s death leaves another absence inside a story that is still unfolding on camera.
