Dutton Ranch will open with a two-episode premiere on Friday, May 15, sending Beth and Rip from Montana to South Texas as the Yellowstone spinoff begins its next chapter. The trailer shows Beth toting a rifle, Rip finding a buried body and a string of fiery montages that suggest the move south is anything but quiet.
The release date gives fans a first look at a show that has already stirred questions about why Beth and Rip uprooted their lives in Montana and left with Carter in tow. Earlier this year, news broke that the series would trade the mountains for South Texas, even though the Yellowstone finale had suggested Beth and Rip were headed to a ranch in Dillon, Montana.
That gap has only sharpened interest ahead of the premiere. Back in March, Greg Yaitanes told Collider that the series has the best parts of what he loved about Yellowstone, and said a lot of the people involved with Dutton Ranch really felt like they were making Yellowstone Season 6. That framing helps explain why the spinoff has been built to feel less like a restart than a continuation, even as its setting and unanswered questions point in a different direction.
For now, the trailer offers only fragments: a new Texas backdrop, a gun in Beth’s hand, a body in the ground and enough fire to suggest the Dutton family’s problems traveled with them. The answer to the question hanging over the series is not whether it is arriving, but what Beth and Rip are running from when it does.
