Major Harris graduated from Woodward Academy on Saturday, receiving his diploma surrounded by family and friends as a school official read out his honors and scholarships during the ceremony. Tameka “Tiny” Harris said her 17-year-old son graduated with honors and shared that the moment marked a major family milestone.
During the ceremony, the announcer said Harris earned Gold Eagle, Academic Honors, Savannah College of Art and Design, Academic Honors, Achievement Scholars and Student Recognition Scholarship. Tiny wrote that all 288 graduates received scholarships and said her son was being recognized in a room full of people who had watched him get to this point.
She said Precious Harris would have been overjoyed to see Major walk with honors, adding that the family celebrated not just a diploma but a step into the future. Harris is headed to Savannah College of Art and Design in the fall, where he will continue after a high school run that included theater and several stage productions.
Tiny said Major had only just started theater but was “a natural” on stage. She said he had an accent the whole time, sang eight songs and impressed everyone watching, a detail that underscored how far beyond the graduation aisle this moment reached for the family.
For the Harris family, the day was not only about academic recognition but about seeing a son move from high school into college with honors, confidence and a public role he seemed to take to quickly. The graduation answered the question around whether he would finish strong: he did, and he did it with scholarship recognition, family at his side and a next chapter already set in motion.
