Battlefield 6 Season 3 is on countdown to release with four new weapons, three of them available at launch and one more arriving mid-season. The update also adds the Golmud Railway map, where up-close fights are expected to be much less frequent.
Among the new weapons is the M16A4 assault rifle, a name that will be familiar to longtime players because it has historically been a burst-fire gun in games. In Battlefield 6, it can be pushed further after unlocking a specific attachment that gives it full-auto capability. The season also brings the RPK-74M light machine gun, the L115 sniper rifle and the PP-19 submachine gun.
The weapon list gives Season 3 a clearer identity than a routine content drop. The RPK-74M version in Battlefield 6 fires faster than the RPKM already in the game, while the L115 and PP-19 round out the update with long-range and close-range options. That mix matters because the season is also bringing the game’s biggest map yet, along with a host of quality-of-life and series-standard features.
The tension in this update is in how the new arsenal fits the old Battlefield rhythm. The M16A4’s full-auto path changes a weapon many players expect to handle in bursts, and the RPK-74M carries its own history, having been unique to the Support class in Battlefield 3. But Golmud Railway is built around longer sightlines and fewer close-quarters encounters, which means the strongest impressions from Season 3 may come not from the weapons alone, but from how they perform when the fighting stretches out.
Three of the four weapons land at launch, and the fourth arrives later in the season. For players, that means Season 3 begins with enough new firepower to change loadouts immediately, while leaving one more piece of the update to keep the countdown going after day one.
