Liverpool are open to severing ties with Cody Gakpo this summer as they reshape their attack, with the club understood to be ready to listen if the right offer arrives for the 27-year-old. The Dutch forward, who earns around £250,000 a week, signed fresh terms with Liverpool last August, but his poor campaign has put his future in doubt.

The same reshuffle has pushed Liverpool toward Maghnes Akliouche, with L'Equipe reporting that the Monaco winger is among their main targets for the right side. Akliouche, a seven-cap France international, made 42 appearances this term and delivered seven goals and 11 assists, form that has convinced Liverpool a deal may be possible for less than €70m, or about £61m, with a bid of around €50m, or £43m, expected to test Monaco's position.

That pursuit fits a wider summer plan on the flanks. Liverpool are already pushing to complete a deal for Yan Diomande as their headline addition on the wings, while Mohamed Salah is due to leave on a free transfer despite having a year left on his contract and Federico Chiesa may return to Italy after struggling for minutes under Arne Slot. Against that backdrop, Liverpool are expected to move quickly, because replacing one senior wide player is already difficult and replacing several at once leaves little room for hesitation.

Akliouche's path is not without friction. Tottenham previously targeted the Monaco forward, but he rejected the chance to join them, and L'Equipe said a summer switch now looks almost certain. That gives Liverpool a clearer lane than they might have expected, but it also raises the stakes of their first bid: if Monaco hold firm on a valuation that had previously been set at €70m, Liverpool will have to decide whether Akliouche is the second flank signing they want badly enough to stretch for. Gakpo's uncertain role may end up being the clearest sign that the club is prepared to make room for a new era wide open.
