will try to do what only five drivers have attempted before her: run the Indianapolis 500 and the Coca-Cola 600 on the same day. On May 24, she plans to start the Indy 500 at 12:45 p.m. in Speedway, Indiana, then make the dash to Charlotte Motor Speedway for the 6 p.m. Coca-Cola 600 in North Carolina.

If Legge makes both starts, she will become the first woman to attempt what racing circles call “The Double.” She would also join , , , Kurt Busch and on a short list of drivers who have tried it, and she would do it at a moment when the challenge has become even more familiar because Larson has pursued it in both 2024 and 2025.

Only one driver has finished both races in the same day. Stewart did it in 2001, placing sixth in the Indianapolis 500 and third in the Coca-Cola 600. Larson came closest to adding to that company in 2024, when he completed the Indy 500 but missed the start of the Coke 600 because rain delayed the schedule and Justin Allgaier drove the No. 5 Hendrick Motorsports Chevrolet in his place. He tried again in 2025 and crashed in both races, failing to finish either one.

Legge said in a prepared statement that very few drivers ever get the opportunity to attempt “The Double” and that she does not take the chance lightly. She called it a test of pushing through perceived limits, betting on yourself, taking risks and trying to do something unique. She also said she was grateful to e.l.f. Cosmetics for believing in what the moment represents and for helping build a community around it.

The double-header will come during a busy stretch for Legge. She made her first NASCAR Cup Series start last weekend at Watkins Glen International in New York, finishing 35th in a 38-driver race in a car. The Indianapolis 500 will be her first start on the IndyCar circuit this year, and it comes with and in the No. 11 e.l.f Cosmetics Chevrolet.

Legge is one of six one-off drivers in this year’s Indianapolis 500 and one of just nine women to have ever competed in the race. She has started 47 IndyCar races in her career and five Indianapolis 500s, with her last Indy 500 coming in 2024. Qualifying begins Saturday at Indianapolis Motor Speedway, with day one set for 11 a.m. and the second day, including the Firestone Fast Six, at 4 p.m. Sunday.

The bigger picture is simple: if Legge gets through qualifying and starts both races on May 24, she will write herself into a part of motorsports history that has belonged to almost no one and no woman at all. For a driver who has spent years moving between series and stretching the limits of where she can compete, this is the most visible version yet of that career-long argument.
