has launched a 5G broadband service in the UK for homes that cannot get full fibre internet, pitching it as a faster alternative for millions of households still stuck with slower connections. The service uses Vodafone’s mobile network and can be used without any cabling or installation.

The company says around 3.7 million homes could benefit from the new offering, which is designed to deliver full fibre-like speeds. The service comes in two plans: one offering speeds of up to 50 Mbps for £21 a month on a 24-month contract, or £30 on a 30-day basis, and another offering up to 150 Mbps for £22 a month on a 24-month plan or £32 on a 30-day rolling contract.

Vodafone is selling the broadband product alongside its full fibre plans, making the 5G service part of a broader push into home connectivity. The key difference is simple: instead of needing engineers, digging or a fixed line into the property, customers can plug in the Power Hub and start using it straight away.

, a Vodafone executive, said millions of households are still paying too much for unreliable and slow broadband that often only reaches 74 Mbps. He said Vodafone 5G Broadband offers those homes a fast alternative with no installation, no waiting and no hassle.

The launch lands at a time when broadband speed and availability remain a sore point for households outside full fibre areas, and Vodafone is betting that convenience will matter as much as raw speed. For families that have waited years for a fixed-line upgrade, the company is now offering a plug-in route to faster home internet — and a clear challenge to the idea that full fibre is the only premium option.
