Production has started on the fourth season of NCIS: Sydney, with filming now underway across Sydney Harbour and nearby areas as the Australian spin-off moves into its next chapter. The news lands the same week the season three finale premieres, and the double episode finale is streaming from today.
The new season will bring back the joint taskforce of U.S. NCIS agents and the Australian Federal Police as it takes on gold heists, government secrets and criminal mastermind mermaids. The synopsis says professional lines will begin to blur, while Olivia Swann returns as Special Agent Michelle Mackey and Todd Lasance returns as Sergeant Jim “JD” Dempsey. Sean Sagar, Tuuli Narkle, Mavournee Hazel and William McInnes are also back.
The renewal follows a strong run for the series. In January, IF reported that NCIS: Sydney was among 10 primetime series picked up by CBS for its 2026/27 schedule, alongside NCIS and NCIS: Origins. The show’s move into a fourth season comes as all three existing seasons are currently streaming on Paramount+, giving the franchise another fresh installment while the current finale still rolls out this week.
Rick Maier said the renewal is great for fans, cast, crew and the creative community, adding that there are many more stories to tell. Sara Richardson said she was immensely proud of the team behind the series and stressed the importance of the jobs created, the local crews supported and the chance to keep telling bold Australian stories on this scale.
NCIS: Sydney is produced by Endemol Shine Australia for CBS Studios and Paramount Australia, and distributed outside Australia by Paramount Global Content Distribution. The source says the commission reflects how the series has been received locally and internationally, which is the clearest reason the franchise keeps extending its reach: the show has found an audience, and that audience has now been rewarded with another season.
