Two men accused of kidnapping an adult woman from Claremont, New Hampshire, and holding her for more than 24 hours in Vermont are due in New Hampshire federal court on Tuesday. , 27, of Holyoke, Massachusetts, and , 30, of Hartford, Connecticut, have remained in Vermont custody since January after rescued the victim and arrested them.

Police were notified on January 25 of a possible kidnapping at a residence in Springfield, Vermont, where investigators say the woman had been taken after being abducted from Claremont. Officers later found a firearm, drugs packaged for distribution, duct tape used to bind the victim and items used for torture during a search of the home. Authorities say the suspects tortured and beat the woman and demanded money from her and others on her behalf.

The case spans New Hampshire and Vermont and has already led to state charges in Vermont for interstate kidnapping. The is also involved, adding a federal layer to a case that began with a rescue inside a Vermont house and is now moving into a courtroom across the state line.
