Sunrisers Hyderabad held Gujarat Titans to 168/5 in Ahmedabad on Tuesday after being asked to bowl first, with Praful Hinge and Sakib Hussain doing the key damage in a disciplined spell. Hinge struck twice in the powerplay, including the wickets of Shubman Gill and Jos Buttler, while Pat Cummins added one as Gujarat were kept under control throughout the innings.
Gujarat’s reply to the early pressure never fully settled. Gill, opening with Sai Sudharsan, fell for 5 to Hinge, and Buttler followed for 7 off 11 balls in the final over of the powerplay. Cummins then removed Nishant Sindhu in the 10th over before Sai Sudharsan and Washington Sundar put together the most important stand of the innings. Sudharsan made 61, and Sundar pushed Gujarat past the 150-run mark in the 19th over after smashing 18 runs off Malinga in that over. But Hussain returned to break the momentum, dismissing Sudharsan and then Sundar, who had just brought up his half-century.
The late surge prevented a total far below par, but the innings still belonged to Sunrisers Hyderabad’s bowlers. Hinge and Hussain finished with two wickets apiece, Cummins took one, and Gujarat were left with 168/5 — a score built on recovery rather than control. For a side that had started the evening under pressure, the total reflected how much damage had already been done in the first 10 overs.
That is the sharp edge of srh vs gt: one team found enough resistance to post a defendable score, but the other won the phases that mattered most. Gujarat’s lower-order push gave them something to work with, yet the early collapse left them chasing the match from the moment the first powerplay ended.
